Nitric-sulfuric acid color test
[ Simple Qualitative Test for DDT Detection ]
What to Test:
1 mL nitric acid + 30 mL sulfuric acid
A RED color that changes to ORANGE then to GREEN in the acid layer suggests the presence of DDT or its metabolite DDE. A RED color that does not change is given by DDD. (Moffat, 1986).
